MPU Guidelines & Info
Determination of a derate is based on load calculations done during final engineering. The possibility of a derate does not guarantee eligibility.
How to Determine Panel & Bus Rating
Panel & Bus rating can be found on the sticker inside the cover of the SES. Examples below.
Automatic MPU
The follow brands will be an automatic MPU
- Federal Pacific -
- Zinsco -
- Stabloc -
Any 10k Rated Breaker see samples below:
Phoenix & Glendale Restrictions
Phoenix & Glendale require upgrading certain electrical panels, even if they do not require an MPU based on the chart.
Square D & Crouse Hinds
require MPUs in these jurisdictions. Square D panels with the breakers pictured below will require an MPU.
The only exception for Square D will be panels with the breaker pictured below. Single horizontal breaker with 2 dimples.
